Spring always feels like a bit of a new beginning. The days grow longer and there’s a natural shift toward renewal. It’s a season that invites new routines, resets and cleansing after heavier winter months. There is a subtle return to the things that make us feel most like ourselves and a motivation for newness.
For us, this spring marks a meaningful moment for Denise Larochelle.
After months of designing, sampling, and refining, we’re excited to introduce two new pieces, and our Substack readers are the first to hear about what’s coming next.
Our brand philosophy is rooted in Living Well. To us, that means paying attention to the relationship between how we care for ourselves and how we move through each day, inclusive of the way we dress.
Feeling our best includes choosing pieces that feel natural and comfortable — clothes that support the life we’re living. As Denise Larochelle continues to grow, this philosophy remains at the center of every decision we make.
Months in The Making
These new pieces have been in development for the past nine months. Designing clothing is a process of learning — about the garments themselves, but also about our own instincts as designers and founders. Each round of sampling brings us closer to the pieces we imagine becoming part of your everyday wardrobe.
Everything is designed and made on the West Coast of Canada, allowing us to stay closely connected to the process.
The Pants
The intention behind these pants was simple: to create something comfortable, elevated, and endlessly wearable.
A piece that feels just as natural during coffee with friends as it does for an evening dinner. Our first sample was created in a very lightweight fabric.
While we loved the shape, we ultimately moved to a mid-weight ponte knit fabric, which gave the pant a bit more structure and polish while remaining breathable and comfortable for spring and summer.
This process — adjusting, refining, and rethinking small details, is what ultimately brings a piece to life.
The T-Shirt
Alongside the pant, we designed a structured boxy t-shirt intended to balance the silhouette of the set. This first sample was near perfect. With a few tweaks we were able to achieve a drop-shoulder oversized look. It has the perfect balance to be your favourite boxy tee. We also thought the ponte fabric creates more structure and elevated it, giving a more crisp look.
The boxy tee is simple and so easy to style in different ways.
We’ll be sharing more about how we style these pieces in an upcoming post.
A Note on Living Well
One thing we’ve realized while building Denise Larochelle is that clothing is rarely just clothing. The pieces we choose to wear often reflect the way we choose to live.
Our Living Well Q&A series explores this idea through conversations with women who care deeply about both personal wellbeing and personal style — and in many ways, those conversations mirror the thinking behind the brand itself.
Clothing that feels good to wear.
A life lived with intention.
Small choices that add up over time.
Spring has always felt like the right moment to begin again. And for us, this season marks the beginning of something new. More soon…
Take care, Denise Larochelle
